In Local News…
Trenton is in the process of trying to clear its 55million dollar deficit. The city is working to contend with a 9.4million dollar gap but they have a savings of 850,000 dollars. The city’s finances were the subject of a meeting held between Mack, members of council, and the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) at the DCA building in Trenton on Friday.
The State of New Jersey has spent 44.4million dollars in snow removal with about a month left in, “snow season.” The state spent more than 20.3million twice this winter in effort to remove the snow. If the state has one more snow storm it will set a record for most money spent in a winter for snow removal.
In National News…
Health officials have tracked measles in a U.S. airport. Health officials said on Monday they have launched a cross-country measles watch for anyone who might have been exposed to a contagious airline passenger who traveled through four major U.S. airports.
A Nebraska mother suffering from depression killed her husband, daughter and herself. Toni Hindman had been suffering from depression when she bought a knife and killed her daughter and 47-year-old husband in their rural Ithaca house.
In International News…
Pakistan rose oil prices 9.9 percent the decision was forced by international oil market price increases spurred by uprisings in Libya and other North African and the Middle Eastern countries. The price of a gallon of gas went from roughly $3.28 per gallon to $3.59 per gallon.
In Sports news…
The New Jersey Nets lose an overtime shootout to the Phoenix Suns 104-103. This was Point Guard Deron Williams home debut for the New Jersey Nets.
The New York Jets have released Damian Woody, Jason Taylor, Kris Jenkins and Vernon Gholston due to high salaries and a lot of injuries.
